Purpose of the Role

Working under the guidance of the Data and Analytics Manager in Abuja and the Deputy Protection Coordinator in Maiduguri, the Protection Data & Analytics Officer helps streamline data processes for the Protection department of ICRC Nigeria. The goal is to improve data entry, ensure data quality, and support analytical tasks for better decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follows established data guidelines, templates, and standards used within Protection.
  • Ensures all procedures align with internal ICRC policies and applicable laws.
  • Keeps all relevant documentation and data management processes updated.
  • Manages data related to Protection activities: Protection of Civilian Population (PCP), Protection of Family Links (PFL), Detention (DET), and Forensic (FOR).
  • Supports reviews of current data entry practices and recommends improvements.
  • Helps introduce and manage new ICT tools within the Protection team.
  • Trains and supports users of the Prot6 platform, guiding them on handling both individual and event-based cases.
  • Performs regular data quality checks and assists with analytical tasks.
  • Prepares protection-related statistics for internal and external reports.
  • Creates and maintains Prot6 dashboards, advanced searches, and reports to support field teams.
  • Organizes both physical and digital records related to protection work.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Library and Information Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three yearsโ€™ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong command of English and Hausa is required; knowledge of Kanuri or other local languages is an added advantage.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with BI tools, SQL, or Visual Basic is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid work authorization for Nigeria.
