Project Direction and Design: Shaping Up for Success
- You’ll be the architect of your projects, working with clients and funders to design them from the ground up. This includes writing proposals and having in-depth conversations about project needs.
- You’ll set the overall vision and direction for each project or program, making sure everyone’s on the same page about what you’re trying to achieve.
- Setting clear goals is key! You’ll establish measurable objectives that track the project’s progress over time.
- IHI has a proven method for success: the Five Core Design Components. You’ll ensure these components are incorporated into your projects to drive results.
- Working closely with the Project Manager, you’ll keep an eye on deadlines, budgets, and deliverables to make sure everything stays on track.
- No project is set in stone! You’ll be creative in designing and improving program activities. This could involve changing project structures, creating new training materials, or testing fresh approaches to reach your goals.
- As a leader, you’ll take point in high-level meetings, both online and in person.

- Data is your friend! You’ll collaborate with Improvement Advisors to analyze data and reports, using those insights to recommend improvements to project content and coaching, ensuring success.
Content Development and Dissemination
- Find new ideas for IHI content, programs, or products with other teams.
- Develop plans to share knowledge (blogs, articles, conferences).
- Be the project/program spokesperson at meetings, visits, conferences.
Project Specific Details:
This job is all about improving healthcare for nurses, midwives, and community health workers in Nigeria.
- You’ll be working on a project funded by USAID (United States Agency for International Development).
- The project focuses on several states in Nigeria: Bauchi, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Sokoto, and the Federal Capital Territory.
- Your goal is to improve the quality of training for these healthcare workers.
- You’ll report to a team that oversees the entire project in Nigeria.
This job is focused on improving the training of nurses, midwives, and community health workers in Nigeria. Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll be working on:
- Better Training Programs: You’ll help develop and improve the training materials used in schools.
- Great Teachers: You’ll work to make sure teachers have the skills they need to deliver this improved training.
- Approved Schools: You’ll help schools get the official go-ahead to deliver these new training programs.
- Strong Teachers Stay: You’ll develop programs to keep qualified teachers working in these schools.
In addition to these areas focused on pre-service training (training before people start working), you’ll also work on improving ongoing training for healthcare workers who are already on the job.
